Weather: Mild, damp.
Comments: Later start 9:30; plenty of parking. Special reduced charge £1 for runners. 6th park-run.
Single lap, mainly gravel tracks, last half mile on tarmac; fast course except crowded start.
Delighted to get under 30mins (new year resolution achieved already!)
Age-groups: Every 5 years, gents and ladies.
Results: Rosemarie: 29min45sec; 33rd lady (of 73), 166 finishers; 2nd fv70. 74.8% age-grading.

CC6 Badgers Farm (Winchester)

8th Jan 20175 miles, inter-club cross-country
Venue: Badgers Farm (Winchester).
Travelling time: 45min.to Sainsbury's car park.
Weather: Mild, misty, damp.
Comments: Lift with Catherine 8am from top of our road. Lots of NFR ladies (and I wasn't the last) but only 2 men.
Short lap, back to start, long lap with extra loop out this year, then repeat of first bit; claggy mud in parts, long slow drags uphill.
Started faster this time, to avoid hold-up behind slow group on narrow path.
Usual spread of cakes at finish.
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: No official times just placings
Rosemarie: approx 52min (didn't stop GPS at finish). 50th lady (out of 80 finishers), 1st v70

CC6 Kings Garn Gutter enclosure (Stoney Cross)

Venue: Kings Garn Gutter enclosure.
Travelling time: 25min.to Longbeech car park.
Weather: Frosty, sunny.
Comments: Got there early to get in nearest car park, but lots there already (wary of icy roads?). Long walk to start.
2 laps, plus long hill to finish. Much of muddiness frozen and rutted, but still some squelchy bits.
Lots of NFR there. Lots of cakes at finish.
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: No official times just placings

Good run, pleased to get under 30mins

Travelling time: 10min to New Milton (Cathy's) + 25min.to start.
Weather: Cloudy, not too cold.
Comments: Lift from New Milton with Cathy.
Some claggy muddy bits but too much gravel for me. No big hills but long 'undulations'.
Hard run, plus back seized up on last mile.
Lots of NFR there (club x-c champs)
Cakes at finish.
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.

West Wight 3 Hills

17th Apr 2017Easter Monday. MT, approx 8 miles
Venue: Freshwater sports centre, IoW.
Travelling time: Left 8:45, Alec drove to Lymington 25mins.
Got 10am ferry Lymington to Yarmouth, plenty of time to get to 12-noon start.
Weather: Sun/cloud, chilly breeze.
Comments: Took mountain bike. Met up with Sue&Andy to cycle old railway Yarmouth to Freshwater.
Slight change to previous route, avoiding road into Alum bay. Still too much on tarmac for me.
Had to walk up hills as usual, but pleased with time.
6 NFR runners. Several other NFR there as supporters.
Age-groups: Up to v70 for men, v65 for ladies.
Results: Rosemarie 1h:25m:41s (39/49 ladies, 125/143 overall). 1st v70 (2nd v65 so no prize)
NFR ladies 8th team, but only non-IoW club.

Weather: Chilly, damp.
Comments: Drove by myself. 11th park-run.
4 circuits of playing fields, all on grass. Went hard from start, lost time on 3rd lap.
New parkrun pb.
Age-groups: Every 5 years, gents and ladies.
Results:
Rosemarie: 28min13sec; 18th lady (75th out of 122 finishers), 1st fv70. 78.9% age-grading.

Park run Montacute (Yeovil)

Venue: Montacute House.
Travelling time: 5min. from campsite at Odcombe.
Weather: Cloudy.
Comments: Camping weekend to celebrate my birthday. 12th park-run.
2 different laps of undulating parkland, on rough grass.
Nice course, but not fast, several sharp bends and nasty steep little hill just before the end.
Wore Speed-x but road shoes would have been ok.
Got fv70 age-group record!
Age-groups: Every 5 years, gents and ladies.
Results:
Rosemarie: 29min27sec; 63rd lady of 167 (225th out of 394 finishers), 1st fv70. 76.8% age-grading.

Park run Lymington

Venue: Woodside playing fields.
Travelling time: 25min. (via Hordle).
Weather: Cloudy, warm, windy.
Comments: 13th park-run. Expected to see more NFR there.
1 short lap, 2 full laps; grass and tarmac paths (mostly with grass alongside).
Nice course, but not fast, too many bends.
Got another fv70 age-group record!
Age-groups: Every 5 years, gents and ladies.
Results:
Rosemarie: 28min47sec; 21st lady of 53 (61st out of 110 finishers), 1st fv70. 78.6% age-grading.

Golden Cap (Charmouth Challenge)

1st July 20177.8mile, fell, v.hilly
Venue: Charmouth school.
Travelling time: 1.5 hours. Drove there Saturday morning, left home 8:45am.
Weather: Hot,sunny.
Comments: Entered online previous day (saved £2 eod fee)
Used same camp site as before (Manor Farm, prices gone up to £20/night!)
Afternoon race, 2:30 start. Very hard run, classed as category BM fell-race.
Walked most of long first hill on tarmac and quite a lot of other bits.
Went off-route when missed turning (no marshal, no arrows), luckily called back by other runners.
Even slower than last time; 1st half v.hot & humid, better when turned into breeze.
No other NFRs; more runners than previously.
Age-groups: Prizes up to v60 gents and ladies.
Results: Rosemarie: 1h:35m:28s (5th fv60, beat all other fv65 and fv70)
56/100 female; 260/341 finishers;
19th overall on age-grading - winners time 51m10s, my age-equivalent 55m54s

Comments: 9am start; 14th park-run.
Another parkrun p.b.for this course.

Results: Rosemarie: 28min38sec; 34th lady (of 127), 304 finishers; 2nd fv70 (Sarah B 1st). 79.05% age-grading.

Durberville Dash 10k

23rd Jul 201710k MT.
Venue: Wool (near Wareham), Dorset
Travelling time: about 45mins, left home 9am
Weather: Cloudy warm
Comments: Based in sports pavillion (hot showers).
Same course (still too much on tarmac - not good for my sciatica), wore road shoes. Undulating rather than hilly.
Nice winding path through woods but too narrow to overtake timid roadies.
Very good value £12(+£2eod), tech finishers T-shirt included - orange this year.
Delay waiting for results, again they missed my fv70 time and had to go and ask for my prize.
Only 1 other NFR runner (Darren). Pleased to finish under an hour.
Alec drove me there, lunch at pub '7 Stars' in E.Burton, a mile west of Wool; large and busy, bit pricy, but good food and good service.

Results: Rosemarie 59m:26s - 1st fv70 (of 2); trophy and bottle of wine. 76.8% age-grading
71st lady (of 179), 233 of 371 finishers.

Jurassic coast 10k

6th Aug 201710k MT; very hilly (may get fell-race classification next year)
Venue: West bay (Bridport)
Travelling time: 1hr 15min.
Weather: Sunny, cool breeze.
Comments: Left home 8am, easy drive, little traffic (much worse on way home).
Small event - limited to 200 runners (including ½ marathon 2-lap option as well).
Well organised, plenty of helpful marshals and route-markers.
Very scenic, had to walk up 3 main hills on coast path.
Amazed to get 1st fvet award - framed photo of West Bay.
Age-groups: Only 1st gent/lady and 1st vet50 gent/lady.
Results: Rosemarie: 1hr11min07sec; 13th lady of 44, 37th of 76 finishers.

Lulworth Castle 10k (Purbeck trail series)

20th Aug 201710k MT - slightly over-distance; hilly (not high but nowhere flat)
Venue: Coombe Keynes (near Wool)
Travelling time: 1hr
Weather: Cloudy, humid
Comments: Left home 8:30am, easy drive, little traffic (more on way home).
Bigger event than expected - part of Purbeck Trail series. Well organised, apart from long wait for results.
Good value £13, tech finishers T-shirt included - another orange one.
Mostly on hard tracks round Lulworth estate - short section thru woods. No views, except of castle.
Hilly, had to walk up couple of steep bits. Still under 10-min miling.
Back to '7 Stars' pub for lunch (landlady is runner, sister in NFR!)
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: Rosemarie: 1hr03min26sec; 1st fv70 (of 3); trophy, ARC buff and bottle of wine.
85th lady of 182, 219th of 342 finishers.

Corfe Beast (Purbeck trail series)

3rd Sept 201712 miles MT - bit longer than advertised.
Venue: Corfe Castle
Travelling time: <1hr; parking in grassy field
Weather: Very wet, very windy
Comments: Left home 8:20am, easy drive, little traffic.
Another race in Purbeck Trail series. Different course from last time (2003!), but same crowded start along narrow lane.
Only jog/walk first mile over common, and queues for several stiles.
Tracks very muddy and slippery, many people walking. Still included steep coast-path steps.
Tech finishers T-shirt included
Lunch at 'Kings Arms' in Stoborough - good food, good cider.
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: Rosemarie: 2hr38min59sec; 1st fv65 (of 2); trophy.
89th lady of 150, 312th of 409 finishers.

Hursley 10k

17th Sept 201710k MT
Venue: John Keble School, Hursley
Travelling time: 40mins; parking in grassy field
Weather: Cloudy, humid
Comments: Left home 8:20am, easy drive, little traffic. 10:30 start.
Crowded start, but not an issue as chip timing. Used road shoes as large sections on tarmac/gravel.
Ground very wet, tracks through woods very muddy and slippery.
Tech finishers T-shirt included. No trophies, prizes mainly vouchers.
Lunch at 'White Horse' in Ampfield.
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: Rosemarie: 1hr02min40sec (chip); 2nd fv65 (of 3).
276th of 498 finishers.

Black Hill 10k (Purbeck trail series)

24th Sept 201710k MT (over-distance - 6.5miles)
Venue: Beer Regis scout hut.
Travelling time: 40mins (+15 min finding venue); parked on road (instead of grassy field)
Weather: Cloudy, very warm
Comments: Left home 9am, 11am start. No 'runners' signs in town, had to ask directions to venue.
Used trail shoes; mostly on dirt tracks, some with loose stones or puddles but only short muddy bit.
Difficult start/finish across hay field. Very hilly.
Went to Woodpecker pub at Spetisbury - good selection of local ciders, but only 'carvery' lunch option.
Age-groups: None, only prizes for 1st 3 gents and ladies.

182nd of 276 finishers.

CC6 Whiteley

1st Oct 20174.3 miles, inter-club cross-country
Venue: Whiteley Woods.
Travelling time: 45min. to Whiteley (M27 J9). Parking at shopping centre.
Weather: Mild, damp.
Comments: Alec drove me there. ½ mile walk from c.p. to start.
Course good - sections on gravel tracks, plus muddy narrow forest trails.
Not enough NFR for team (ladies or gents), so started slow and enjoyed run
Post-race cakes but they ran out of water!
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: No official times just placings
Rosemarie: 45min01sec; 45th lady (out of 74 finishers), 1st v70

Studland Stampede (Purbeck trail series)

15th Oct 20177.5mile (12k) trail
Venue: Knoll beach NT car park, Studland; £4 charge for non-members.
Travelling time: 35mins to ferry
Weather: Mild, cloudy, breezy.
Comments: Race full by March, but Caroline switched her entry to me (£5 transfer fee).
Alec took me there, £4.30 on ferry.

Crowded start on beach, ok with chip timing. Similar course to last year, except staggered start in 3 'pens'.
Went at back of 'middle' group, but front of last group may have been better, still queues coming up off beach.
Long hill up from beach, then undulating, but a killer mile of soft sandy dunes before the last section along beach.
Quicker than last year, though ran low on energy at about 8k.
Several other NFR there.
Home via Wareham (avoiding ferry) with lunch at Kings Arms in Stoborough again.
Age-groups: Prizes in 10-year age-groups.
Results:
Rosemarie: 1h:19m:40s 1st (only) fv70
127 of 214 ladies, 332 of 441 finishers

Also last race in Purbeck trail series, and got 1st fv70 in that too.

Dorset 3 Peaks (Stickler)

29th Oct 201710.1 miles, mostly off-road, hilly.
Venue: Shillingstone Church Centre
Travelling time: about 1hr, left home 8:15am (Alec drove, lift for Caroline W); parked in road by race HQ.
Weather: Mild, sun/cloud, light showers at start.
Comments: Ground not too wet, but lots of sticky mud.
7 NFR runners there.
Start in field - hook-start, causing hold up before line.
Same course as previous years: managed to run up at least some of each hill.
Well marked and marshalled; no Tshirt this year, but nice medals.
Pleased to get under 2 hours.
Lunch at Fiddleford Inn.
Age-groups: 40+,50+,60+,70+ gents and ladies.
Results:
Rosemarie: 1h:53m:52s 1st (only) fv70; £20 card voucher, plus specialty cheese from sponsor.
430 of 542 finishers (190 ladies)

CC6 Dibden

5th Nov 20174.7 miles, inter-club cross-country
Venue: Dibden enclosure.
Travelling time: 15min.to Ashley; 30min to Dibden.
Weather: Chilly, sunny.
Comments: Picked up Trisha R at 'Crown' 8am, then drove to Ashley for lift with Caroline W.
Course changed slightly again from last year, more gravel, some mud thru trees but easily negotiated.
Over 300 runners (worst ever finishing position) but back in time for cake.
28 NFR (14 ladies), no need to worry about placings.
Re-hydration at '6 Bells' in Lymington aferwards.
Age-groups: Every 10 years, gents and ladies.
Results: No official times just placings

CC6 Janesmoor Pond (Stoney Cross)

Weather: Horrendous, rain and gales.
Comments: Drove by myself, roads partly flooded in Burley Street.
Straight into wind for 1st mile, then knee-deep mud and water. At least rain eased off.
More runners than expected in bad conditions; 17 NFR (7 ladies) despite clash with Xmas pud 10k.
Santa-marshals, carols en-route on tuba. Lots of cakes.

v. muddy, slippery, convoluted 3-lap route - not a day for pb's
Took it easy, legs still tired from Saturday. Lots of people in fancy dress.
Cake and fizz after for Caroline's birthday.

Comments: 23rd park-run.
Not as many puddles as expected on course.
PB! first time over 80%!! Same pace as Dawn set on miles 1 & 2, but felt easier, and managed to hold it on mile 3.
Helped by sports-massage yesterday.
